Of Moose and Men

Day Two through Three: It was a late start after breakfast (Thanks Jessica!) and a quick stop at Target (not quick enough for Sherrie).

Destination: Prince George, BC

We had a bit of a late start today, but this was due to a very enjoyable reason. Sherrie and I found her nieces and nephew too adorable to leave.

(Sherrie completing the entry now) After we left John and Jessica’s house and did all the stuff we needed to get through the day like checking the tires, getting gas, and getting junk-food from Target we left for Canada. The north/central part of Washington is absolutely gorgeous. After a scenic route through Washington we got to the Canadian border and entered British Columbia, Canada. Unfortunately, we forgot that Canada has their own currency and goes by the metric system (like every other country in the world does). But when I asked a waitress what type of currency Canada does use, she looked at me like I may have been on something not to mention Amanda lost her sweater there too. Anyways, as I digress, it really wasn’t any big deal, just a little adjusting.

Like Washington, Canada is also very beautiful. We actually went through one area that looked like a desert which felt like home (haha).  We were going to camp outside of Prince George but we didn’t get to the campsite early enough, so we got some dinner and decided to go straight to the Yukon instead of sleeping. After a few hours go by you realize how big B.C. is because of all the endless driving. I guess that’s why they call it a Road Trip, eh! We saw so many different animals that you would pretty much expect to see like: moose, bears, mountain sheep, and deer. The moose actually freaked me out at first because of all the horror stories you hear about those crazy animals. Also, I didn’t want them to run into us or vice-versa. I wasn’t too worried about the bears because my dad gave me some handy-dandy bear deterrent along with three canisters of mace just in case we were attacked by a bear or some psycho-killer man more than once.

So day two merged into day three at the same time the happy attitudes merged to a little bit of crankiness. But after we got our campsite in Watson Lake, Yukon we ate and got our four dollar showers that washed all the crankiness away. We went to the sign forest in Watson Lake where there are over 65,000 sign posts from all around the world. Coincidentally enough there was a sign posted from Taft, CA. dating back from 1994. I found it within the first five minutes of being there. I’d say it was a pretty cool moment. Yeah you betcha. This was basically our last two days, which are still a little bit of a blur, but a good blur. Until next time.

(Sorry this blog was as long as a novel, but it was two whole days ya know and my fingers are long-windedJ).
